Baji’s Indian-style Papadums were created by Passion Foods,
Inc., with the goal of bringing unique world flavors to convenient
products. While they may resemble traditional potato chips,
these Indian-style snacks are far from it. Papadums are a
traditional Indian cracker or flatbread, typically served
as an accompaniment to a meal and eaten topped with chutney
or other dips. Most times, they tend to lean on the greasy
side, so I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted these mini
(greaseless) versions of the traditional papadum. All-natural
and vegetarian, they come in four exotic flavors: Tangy Cilantro,
Traditional Tandoori (my favorite), Mango Chutney, and Creamy
Yogurt & Dill. Made with fava bean flour, they have twice
the protein of other salty snacks, and 50 percent less fat
than traditional potato chips. Plus, they just taste so much
better with their light, crispy crunch and whirlwind of international
flavor. I like how they contain no trans fat, no cholesterol,
and all but Mango Chutney are wheat- and gluten-free. Plus,
a part of the sales of Baji’s products is donated to charities
that focus on the education and nutrition of underprivileged
children in Third World countries. Check them out at www.bajispassion.com.
